A free timed 1-mile or 5K community run hosted by the Chicago Park District and CARA, open to runners, joggers, walkers, families, strollers and leashed dogs. Results are posted online and there are no awards.
How to get it
Register for this date at cararuns.org/gorun (GoRunChicago.org), then check in at the red tent before 8:55am.
Good to know
Free, but you must pre-register online for each date (children too); registration opens Friday at 3pm the week before and closes Friday at 2pm the day before, with no on-site registration. Check-in at the red tent opens 8:15am and closes 8:55am; first-timers each year pick up a bib there. Under-18s need a parent or guardian to sign the waiver. Runs go rain or shine but may be cancelled for lightning or extreme weather.
